GIS Day Savannah 2009

Event Details

  • Date: Wednesday, November 18, 2009
  • Location: 165th Airlift Wing Air Force Base (detailed directions and map will be provided)
  • Event Time: Set up begins at 7 am and break down will end at 4 pm
  • Booths must be staffed during the entire event from 9 am until 3 pm, excluding the lunch break.
  • Information regarding booth set up and break down will be distributed prior to event.    

 

Dear Sponsor,

Our first two GIS Day events have been a great success, thanks to your support and participation.  This year we are changing the format to provide even more hands-on learning for our students.  We hope you will agree that these changes will only make a great event even better.

The event this year will be held at the 165th Airlift Wing at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport.  Our committee has prepared three tutorials for the students to participate in.  In addition, we will have the same tradeshow and map gallery format as before, on a smaller scale.  We hope you will be able to attend by sponsoring a booth to demonstrate how your company or organization uses GIS in our community. 

As always, the sponsorship will support the cost of the event and additional funds will be used to support GIS education in our schools.  Some of the highlights include GIS In-service Workshops for our teachers, GIS at summer camps provided by Georgia Tech, and a GIS lab installed at DeRenne Middle School.

Booth Space Registration and Sponsorship Information

Registration forms are due September 30, 2009.  Booth space is limited so register soon!

The goal of GIS Day Savannah 2009 is to educate our local 8th grade students about how GIS is used every day in our community. Thanks to in-kind donations and support, the majority of your sponsorship will go towards establishing GIS programs in area schools.

At the same time, GIS Day provides the perfect opportunity for you to showcase your work, and a forum for teaching students about the significant contribution this exciting technology is making in their lives and communities.   

Levels of Sponsorship include:

  • Platinum Sponsorship for $2500
  • Gold Sponsorship for $1000
  • Silver Sponsorship for $500
  • Friends of GIS Day for $150
  • Government and non-profit organizations that participate in the event are asked to submit a $50 donation to cover the cost of booth supplies and setup.

All Sponsors will receive:

  • Booth Space including 8’ x 30” table and 2 chairs
  • Organization logo and website listed on the GIS Day Savannah website
  • Organization name listed in marketing materials
  • Lunch and refreshments

Platinum, Gold & Silver Sponsors will also receive:

  • Organization logo listed in event marketing material (if submitted by Sept. 30) 

Map Gallery Submission
All sponsors and participants are invited to submit maps to be shown in the GIS Day Map Gallery. The Map Gallery is an opportunity for students to learn about map elements and how GIS can be used to solve problems. Maps must be submitted for approval in person or via email to Noel Perkins by October 19, 2009.
